SAE Baja 2022-2023

On May 3rd-8th, 2023, our BAJA Club will be traveling to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to compete in a "Society of Automotive Engineers" (SAE) Sponsored, BAJA competition. Our trip, including two days of travel, will consist of our single-person off road vehicle being tested and evaluated by design engineers as we compete against 99 other entries from schools across the world. We have spent the entire year designing and building our prototype based upon the specifications and rules provided by SAE, and our vehicle will be scored in three categories: static judging, dynamic scoring, and a 4-hour endurance race.

Gorilla Racing is a student-led organization that engineers, builds, and competes an off-road vehicle at the SAE Baja Competition. Over 100+ universities from around the world bring their teams to compete in a location that varies each year. The construction of the car is performed entirely by team members in-house. The car must be constructed in such a way that it could be mass produced. To have a quality project, the students must put in over 3,000 man hours of machining and engineering work. This experience will have a profound impact on preparing students for the workforce.

However, none of this would be possible without donations from companies and individuals to help offset the cost of materials, special tooling, equipment and travel expenses.
