We are a senior design group of engineering student working in conjunction with the Pitt Power Plastics Department to build a machine that automatically assembles sports bottle caps and nozzles.
Why are we doing this? The Plastics Department at Pitt State produces these bottles in-house, which they often hand out for free at various events. Currently, the main method of assembling the caps and nozzles is through utilizing a previous senior design group's project, which requires a lot of manual input to function. Our goal is to design a faster, safer, and more efficient automated solution.
At the heart of our project is an indexing table - a specialized rotating platform that moves each cap through different assembly stations. It's the core of our machine, and it is the primary cost associated with our project. However, a project of this degree has many additional costs, including metal framing to support the table, acrylic glass to enclose the table for safety, and more.
With your support, we can more efficiently finance the indexing table and other materials that can help bring our design to life. Your donations will help us gain valuable hands-on engineering experience, solve a real manufacturing problem, and take a big step toward the future of automating the production of these sports drink bottles for the Plastics Department at PSU.
Thank you for your support and for helping us turn ideas into action!
