Geeks 4 Kids is a non-profit organization that builds custom electric cars for kids who cannot get around on their own. These kids’ challenges vary. Some cannot walk. Others can stand and walk with crutches or other aids, but still have trouble keeping up with their peers. Some cannot use their hands effectively or at all. Some can only move their heads and necks. We, the Pitt State undergrad team, customize a car for each child’s specific needs. We aim to redesign the chassis, power train, and castors for a new vehicle, a redesign of the off-the-shelf model which faces discontinuation. The Pitt State team also aims to design different sized models to accommodate children ages 1-18. Your financial gift will be used to cover costs associated with materials for construction of the redesign. The goal is to raise $3,000 for the parts, materials, and trips to Kansas City which is needed for the project.
None of this would be possible without the financial support of alumni and friends of PSU. We ask you to consider a financial gift to the Engineering Technology - Geeks for Kids Project 2021-22.
